I went to the Joliet Splash Station Waterpark for the first time yesterday with Beth and Matthew. We went soon after I came home from work, so that we could take advantage of the Twilight admission price. The Twilight rate was a pretty good deal even though we still had to pay the non-resident rate. The whole non-resident thing is just another idiosyncrasie that comes from living in “Jofield.” I might have a Plainfield address but I still pay taxes to Joliet. I figure since I pay taxes to Joliet, the least they could do is give me the additional $1.50 off. Then again, I guess it’s just another way for the Joliet Park District to make more money. All that a side, Splash Station is a pretty nice small water park. The attractions include a six-person racing slide, body slides, tube slides a lazy river, and a zero-depth pool. Matthew really seems to enjoy going there. No wait… I take that back. I know he likes going there because he kept insisting “waterpark that way” when we starting going a different direction than he went the time before. Maybe we’ll have to go again in the coming weeks while I’m off.

Fishermen catch, eat record-sized catfish via Yahoo! News
Fishermen in northern Thailand have caught the biggest catfish on record — a 646-pound (293-kg) giant the size of a grizzly bear — and eaten it, the WWF and the National Geographic Society said on Wednesday.
WOW!!! That put’s this guy’s fish story to shame.

Check out Polaroid-o-nizer, it lets you turn any picture in .gif, .jpg or .png format into a Polaroid-style one using this tool. It’s Pretty cool.
On the way to work this morning I passed the usual gas stations a long the way that I always see and was I shocked. I filled-up 6 days ago for $2.26 a gallon. Today it jumped to $2.45 a gallon! 19 cents in 6 days! Just as we hear that gas prices are falling! Damn Independence Holiday! The demand is going to go up this weekend, so because of the holiday travels they going to price gouging! Damn the oil companies!
Student hopes wandering tortoise finds way home to Orland Park via Chicago Sun-Times
How does a tortoise escape from its owner?
Verrry slowly.”
A search for Michelangelo, a runway 22-pound desert tortoise, is in progress in Orland Park. At seven mpd; that’s miles per day, I don’t think he can get that far. But just in case anyone sees what looks like a big rock a long 135th street… you just might want to slow down. There’s a $250 reward.
Well, I just bought my fishing license via the internet. It was quick and painless. Now, it’s time to throw the fishing poles and tackle box into the car.
Here comes more Google and satellite imagery maddness. I READ this yesterday on Google Blog. They have just publicly launched Google Earth. Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips. I haven’t downloaded it yet but it looks to be pretty cool.
Blues Brothers 25th Anniversary via Chicago Sun-Times
It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses.
Being a fan of the movie, I felt like passing along this article that my Dad shared with me. The Sun-Times had an interesting look back at The Blues Brothers as last week marked the 25th anniversary of it’s release. They take you back, in a five part series, to the streets of Jake and Elwood Blues and checks out what’s happened since. I know it’s old news, but if you missed, take the time to check it out. It’s pretty cool.

Doah… Damn, for the second morning in a row I forgot to grab my I-pass out of Beth’s car. Luckly, I discovered this after only going through one I-pass only lane this morning. I guess if the The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority is on it’s toes then I can look forward to picture of my license plate in the mail.
