CHICAGO WHITE SOX - AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS - 2005
The magic number is 1, but it doesn’t matter. They have clinched a tie for the American League Central title. But even if the Indians were to sweep the three-game set at Jacobs Field this weekend, the White Sox would win the tiebreaker for the American League Central crown with an 11-8 edge in head-to-head play.
Kevin, Rich and Ed… We’ve taken all the crap you North Siders could dish out. Your team didn’t even get to .500. So shut up.
However, I will graciously extend my hand out to all of you who are willing to jump on the bandwagon.
Tuesday night, Beth and I went to go see Wedding Crashers at Cinemark. It’s formulaic and predictable. But I still enjoyed it. As far as the plot is concerned… Well, it was decent. But there’s no point describing the plot. Two minutes into the movie and you’ll see right through it. Fortunately, it doesn’t get in the way of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn being funny. In retrospect, Wedding Crashers is a movie that I could have wait till DVD, but it was actually worth the use of our FREE September movie ticket. I’d give the movie an overall grade of B-.
Back in June, 104.3 WJMK was replaced with JACK-FM. Although JACK’s random play format is starting to grow on me, I was sad to see oldies 104.3 go away. And since it’s disappearance then there has been a real lack of oldies in Chicago radio. I gave up trying to tune in Real Oldies 1690. I could never get clear signal.
In any case, I was excited when I heard the good news. The other day my Dad sent me an email with a link to ARTICLE in the Chicago Sun-Times mentioning how the Zone has dropped their rock format in favor for oldies.
This is quite possibly horrible news for those of us who love our TiVos. Programs we can’t record? Programs that can’t be recorded after 7 days?
Another Google Maps application! Gvisit will track visitors to this web site and display them on a map. It only tracks the last 20 visits, at least for the price (or lack there of) that I’m will to pay. I have found it to be a little off with the recent cities that it reports, but if you care to take a LOOK… Help yourself.
I didn’t do to bad this week. Three out of my four selected drivers finished in the top ten, placing 2nd, 3rd, and 7th. My A list pick, Tony Stewart, finished and 18th… Even though he was favored to do better. Tony had 11 top 10 finishes in his 13 career races at Dover. This includes 2 wins and a worst finish of 15th. In any case, I finished third for the week with 321 points and I still rank 7 out of 12 for the season with 7,241 points.
I guess the joke was on us last night. The Village of Plainfield and Plainfield Park District was supposed to show Annie last night in Settlers’ Park. We even got there early to make sure we had good seats. But after waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more… No one from the park district ever showed. We looked a little foolish last night sitting in the middle of the park, but at least we wern’t the only ones.
I almost forgot to share this. I spotted this car Sunday afternoon, outside the Holiday Inn we stayed at after Brandie & Ed’s wedding. I thought it was a fun photo. I have a few MORE photos of it posted on Flickr.
Well, it looks like Gary’s secret is out. He claims that he’ll be voted off as soon as they find out he is an Ex-NFL quarterback. However, I guessing everyone will be more annoyed that, instead telling the truth, he continued to lie about it. Even after a few of the Survivors called him on it. But then again, Danni is really the only person who knows for sure Gary was a quarterback, if she gets voted off before the tribes merge, his secret is safe.
And is it just me, or are the results of the challenges much too close to be believable? First the 24-hour 11-mile race ended with only about 30 seconds between them. Then last night, the web-climbing relay had about 3 or 4 changes of lead before ending in a very close finish. I might be too cynical, but sometimes I think finishes like that are all due to careful editing.

I finally found the time to upload these photos to Flickr. Click HERE to view and/or download more photos. I was even able to snap a few pictures of my lovely wife. A truly rare occurrence, as I always have to prod here into standing in front of the camera. In any case, I just wanted to let the newlyweds know I had a nice time, and I wish you both all the best.
