This isn’t really new news, but I just learned about it and thought it was worth mentioning. Harvey Danger made their latest album, “Little By Little”, available for download as a torrent or zipped mp3s. In a longwinded press release on the Harvey Danger web site, the band explains why they have opted to give it away.
Harvey Danger have made their latest album, “Little By Little”, available for download as a torrent or zipped mp3s. This comes on the heels of a Barenaked Ladies album released without DRM on a USB thumbdrive. In an eloquent, if longwinded, press release on the Harvey Danger web site, the band explains why they have opted to give it away, and foot the bill for bandwidth to boot: “In preparing to self-release our new album, we thought long and hard about how best to use the internet. Given our unusual history, and a long-held sense that the practice now being demonized by the music biz as “illegal” file sharing can be a friend to the independent musician, we have decided to embrace the indisputable fact of music in the 21st century, put our money where our mouth is, and make our record, Little By Little…, available for download via Bittorrent, and at our website. We’re not streaming, or offering 30-second song samples, or annoying you with digital rights management software; we’re putting up the whole record, for free, forever. Full stop. Please help yourself; if you like it, please share with friends.
I’ve listen to the album and generally speaking… it all meshes pretty well.
Paul Stamatiou has released Part 5 of his K2 customization series. This time he has explained on how to compress CSS and images.
These guys at Gordon College really put some time into making a real life version of everyone’s favorite video game. You have to just see this one.

Well, last night’s first surprise was the return of Abruzzi. I’m starting to wonder whether or not his return is just part of “The Company’s” bigger plan. Abruzzi might just be playing everyone. The fact he asked about Fibonachi again sure makes him out to be suspicious. The other interesting thing about Abruzzi, is we learn that Nick is his contact on the outside. Although, I’ve been trying to figure out Nick’s roll in everything since we found out he was work againt Veronica behind her back. What “deal” does he have that makes him have to watch Veronica?
I also have a theory (OK, it’s actually Beth’s theory, but it’s a good one) that Tweener didn’t really rat out the Breakers for the reason we think. Michael, for some reason, told Tweener to tell Bellick about the hole in the break room. Otherwise I’m not quite sure how the next episode could continue with the cat out of the bag like that.
Its fun trying to figure out what’s going to happen next, like what strings are Michael going to pull next (like the whole Sarah’s keys thing) or if things are really unraveling for Breakers. Either way, it’s hard to believe that there are only three more episodes left, and then that long wait for the next season. On the bright side, I’m sort of waiting for the escape and ensuing fugitive-like season.
This is not a good sign. Starting Monday at midnight, Cartoon Network will be adding “Saved by the Bell.” to their lineup. Seriously, what the hell is Cartoon Network thinking? I guess, the news of Cartoon Network’s live-action shift has not been well received in the online community. Me included! One person has already started a PETITION asking the network to stop airing live-action programming.
I just hope they don’t start messing around with Boomerang’s (Cartoon Network’s sister channel for 24-Hour classic cartoons) programming lineup.
Paul Stamatiou has just released Part 4 of his excellent K2 customization tutorial. This tutorial walks through the basics of how to create a 3 Column layout. If you havent seen his HOW-To’s, I recommend taking the time to check them out.
Last week we attended the final Chicago Wolves game of the season. Other than being the last game, it was also a special night, the retirement of Steve Maltais’ number to the rafters.
That’s all great and good… he was a cornerstone of the team for over the past eleven years and helped them win 3 championship cups. But more importantly, I just learned that there was another retirement happening that night; Long-time man-behind-the-wolf, Jim Santee. I guess Skates has skated his last “Black Betty”.
