During the summer, 500 “steal this sign” signs will be placed throughout the communities of Tinley Park, Orland Park, Oak Forest, Mokena, New Lenox, Frankfort, Lemont, Homer Glen and Lockport.
Signs will also be placed in Joliet, Plainfield, Wilmington, Naperville, Shorewood, Channahon, Minooka, Bolingbrook and Romeoville.
I have to give the Joliet Jaclhammers credit. This is one of the more cleaver promotions that I’ve seen.
Comcast employee sleeps during house call via Yahoo! News
DoorFrame has a funny video on YouTube of what happened when a Comcast technician came to his house to fix a faulty modem. As much as I might complain about Comcast and their service, at least nothing like this has every happen to me.
Looking back, a year ago today. Take a step back in time: June 26th, 2005.
Too bad I tossed out an old cordless phone a couple of weeks ago. I just found this cool guid on how to build your own intercom or walkie talkie out of two old cordless phones over at Instructables.
Digg to allow users to vote for many types of news via Yahoo! News
Digg.com, a tech-news phenomenon that has readers recommend online articles to others, is expanding to let users also vote for the most popular general news, entertainment stories or videos, the company said on Thursday.
This is interesting, Digg won’t be just for tech news anymore - there will be sections for general news, entertainment stories and videos. I can’t wait to see the new additions to their site; I must visit Digg a few times a day.
Recently, I discovered Lazy Laces and was amazed at the sheer volume of point ‘n click games. If you don’t believe me, head on over to see for yourself.
Not all the games are that great, some are pretty stupid. Bird’s Way is definitely one of them. But occasionally I’ll run across a cool game like Goldburger or Hapland 1, 2 or 3. Goldburger is pretty fun. It reminds me of TIM (the incredible machine). So far, the Haplands are my favorites. These games are super hard but awful addictive. You have to perform the correct steps in the right order with the correct timing in order to complete your goal. What a great time waster.
As I was watching Hearst and Swearengen jockeyed for the upper hand in the camp, I stated thinking about how Al’s character has transformed a lot since season one. When we first met Al, he was a cutthroat (literally) capitalist who used to pride himself on the acquisition of power, money and property by any means necessary, killing anybody who stood in his way. He was terrifying. He was so malevolent. For instance, I used to wonder if he would maim or kill Trixie. Some where, between brokering a deal with the regional government in Yankton and fending off a fearsome challenge from Hearst, he’s become more of a likable character. Don’t get me wrong, he’s great fun to watch, but what happened?
By no means am I suggesting That Al is sweet and innocent. I know he can still be violent, but there was a time that Al and the “Gem boys” would have just whacked an outsider like Hearst. I suppose it is out of fear that they don’t. There are too many social, political and economic issues at hand to do things the old way. Too bad… Hearst is proving the most powerful foe Al’s ever faced.
Al was to overly confident in thinking that Hearst and the Captain wouldn’t try anything, or that, he could stab his way out of any situation. Hell, he didn’t even signal to the “Gem boys” when he was forced inside at gunpoint. If Al is going to win over Hearst, he’s going to have stop thinking like he can out-think and out-muscle anyone.
Wow, my first White Sox game of the year. Usually by this time of the year I would have already attended several games. But unfortunately, I made the decision last season not to purchase my share of this year’s season tickets. I know, I know… of all the years I choose to purchase season tickets… I chose the year they won the World Series. Hey, what can I say… there was reason to my madness. In any case, Beth’s mom happened to purchase ticket for last night’s game on a lark and invited Beth, Matthew and I to go along. And what a great game it was. Chicago was unstoppable, pounding out 24 hits and 20 runs. They cycled through the entire line up plus some, scoring 11 runs in the third inning alone. All those hits sure made for an exciting game, but it also made for a long game. Boy, Am I tired this morning…
Also, Beth’s mom and sister gave me Chicago White Sox gift card for Father’s Day (thank you Linda and Missi, you both were more than generous) that I thought I would make use of while we were there. I even thought what better way to use it than to get something that I ordinarily wouldn’t buy myself, like a jersey. Well, after looking at the ONE I really wanted. I decided to hold off for a while when I found out the price. Call me crazy but I find it hard to pay $200.00 for a jersey. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll find something else just as nice the next time I go.
