National Gorilla Suit Day

National Gorilla Suit Day

And because I have nothing better to post on January 31st - It’s National Gorilla Suit Day.

BlueSky Studios Challenge

BlueSky Studios - Luke ESBI’ve been following the BlueSky Studios Challenges every week since I discovered them a few months ago. Last week’s The Wild West was pretty interesting. Regardless of the topic they always post a lot of great artwork.

So far I’m digging this week’s challenge - Star Wars. In particular, I like the work from Jake. He’s has a couple entries… Including this one of Luke Skywalker.

Any Good Photography Sites?

Does anyone know of any good photography sites?  There are so many of them around, so I was wondering if any one would know of some really good sites.  What I’m mainly after is tips, tricks, how-to’s, etc… things like that.   Maybe some sites with user interaction or weekly assignments.

24: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

I had a conversation with co-worker the other day, also a fan of 24, who thought that Monday night’s plot twist - having Jack Bauer’s brother turn out to be a villain - seemed a little too Soap Opera “ish” for his taste. And while I defended the the idea of introducing the rest of Jack-Bauer’s-family. After all, technically we’ve only previously been witness to 5 days of Jack’s life. It’s not all that surprising that we were never introduced to them… Hey, Jack doesn’t appear to be close knit family type of guy anyway. I must say that having Jack Bauer’s brother, Graham, be the same guy who gave orders to President Logan last season did strike me as stretching the limits of believability, even when you really, really try to believe.

In any case, it was intriguing to see some Shakespearean drama added. I wonder when Jack will find out that Ghram was the one behind Season 5?

24: 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM

I wanted to post my thoughts on the season premiere of 24 earlier, but I decided to wait until I caught both Sunday’s and Monday’s back to back episodes. Now that I’ve had time to digest and think over the first four hours… All I have to say is… WOW! Jack’s Back. Fresh out of a Chinese prison none the less and ready to save the world (yet again).

Sure they’ve done the whole “high-jack a nuclear weapon and blow it up” plot before, but that was out in the desert and they didn’t actually detonate a nuclear weapon inside a city. I don’t know if this was done intentionally by the writers to make people take notice of current events? Probably not,
but with a nuclear explosion taking place so early in the season… I’m sure this will ensure that the rest of the episodes to come will be exciting and fast paced. With the season starting off with something so terrible, it’s hard to know where they can go from here.

Oh, and I cannot believe Jack killed Curtis. Although I saw it coming, it still was quite a shock.

Also, I really wanna know what Palmer gave up to get Jack back from the Chinese. I have a feeling it might come to light later in the season.

Cartoon Network?

Another live-action show on Cartoon Network? I just READ that Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim line-up has ordered yet another live-action show based on a series of online shorts called Gemberling.

There is nothing sadder than reading another news item about how Cartoon Network is continuing to add live-action show. It makes me grateful that I subscribe to the Boomerang channel, were I still can watch good cartoons.

New Year Resolution

I enjoy taking pictures and looking at other’s pictures.  The photographic skill I see every day on Flickr is inspiring.  So, this year I have set out to improve my photography skill (bear with me).  I pursuing it for fun and enjoyment.

Update: Surprise

2007-01-07 Dodge Grand Caravan 003

Well, we did it. We bought our selves a minivan. A Dodge Grand Caravan to be exact.

We both knew the next vehicle we would purchase would have to be larger… something with more cargo room. So, it wasn’t a real big shock to either of our systems that we decided on a minivan. In fact, we were both already leaning toward the Caravan before we went looking. I feel we got a really good deal, but by the time the deal was done, I felt like we had gone ten rounds in a boxing ring. I was exhausted.

It’s pretty loaded, tri-zone climate control, all power (including the lift gate and both sliding passenger doors) and Stow ‘N Go seats. The Stow ‘N Go seats are great… Now we can go from hauling five passengers to hauling a team of sled dogs in about the five minutes it takes to fold all the seats into the floor. Not that we’ll ever have the need to haul a team of sled dogs, but at least there will be more room for what we need to haul around with the one dog we do own. No longer will I need to squeeze a passenger, a full size cooler and a big dog into my car like we did the last time we went camping.

Geo Tagging

A while back, Flickr introduced a new feature to the site allowing people to geo tag their photos. Where I can tag where I took the pictures and view them by location. I can also view other people’s photos by location. Going on vacation? Check out the place before go. On the surface, this seems like a wonderful feature. That is until you realize you may be giving out way too much information. Lucky, I thought of the dangerous possibilities early on when I was asked what I would like my geo tags permission to be. However, I could see where this might be dangerous for other Flickr users, users who might have over looked who they might be sharing this information with.

For example, by default Flickr recommends that everyone can see your geo tag. Sure, you’d like to share my photos with the world. Let’s see… This one from home, this one is from park, this one from the school, the zoo. WAIT! You may be giving people, all people, not just the good people the location of your family, your child, your pet cat. If you’re like me, I have hundreds of photos of my kid, and I certainly don’t want to give every Tom, Dick and Harry a map to where my kid lives and plays.

Geo tags are cool, but I would urge everyone to use them a little more cautiously. And if you haven’t done so already, I would recommend changing their Flickr permissions.
